Progress Report Week 1
Meeting
The first meeting was held after the PU profile talk
on the date 29th October 2015. All the member of group 4B are
presence. We had a meeting with all members to introduce each others. Chairman
from group 4B give a project briefing to
make sure all the member to understanding about the site analysis. We selected the assistant chairman, secretary,
assistant secretary and treasurer from the related major. Chairman had remind
the member bring the equipments for the site visit .
The
second meeting was held at the Taiping Lake Garden. In this meeting,
chairman
divided the task for site analysis to
group member. Everyone are divided into sub-groups
to carry their own task requirement. Next, chairman have give a brief site analysis to
the group member. Chairman also distribution measuring equipments we had
borrowed from the lab and he is explained the function and how to use the equipment. After this,
Lecture
explain more details about the task given and Q&A section with lecturer .Then, we start to do research, site analysis and data collection according
to their job scope. Time frame of one and half hour is given. After the data collect session, we had discussed about
the problem and
solution of the site analysis and combined all the data and result of the
site analysis with group member.
Problem Arisen
The
main issue that we found is our site is small ,it is trouble for us to build
the pavilion because there is small area. The data of the wind flow is hard for
them because there have low and no wind flow on that day. They have to wait
long to get the data .Some of the members confused on the given tasks for the
site analysis.
Work Lies Ahead
We should prepare the site analysis and proceed the
coming crit session. All the member have to list down and discuss the problem
and find out the solution to solve problem. The precedent studies ,the idea of
conceptual design sketches for the building , bubble diagram and site planning
must come out from architecture and planning student.
Progress Report Week 2
Meeting
During the crit session, all members are presentation by introduction
the site and the point of the SWOT analysis. Each of the member of the task and
presentation the future area development from material selection team.They
decide to lise pining for and makes our assumption for the site. After presentation,
we get comments from all the studio master. According to the lack of data and
information on the site analysis collected. The chairman come out with the
solution to solve those problem by this week. All member needs to come out with
idea for pavilion and mention secretary for updating the meeting report. Design
team proposes the precedent studies to the chairman that is Sultan Azlan Shah
and sport ( Hockey and Golf ). After discussion, design team chooses the design
concept that is hockey ball or bubbles. We decide the pavilion come out with a
dome shaped faced .The material selection team and design team are discussion
about the material for pavilion and project management team are starting to do
the progress scheduling and organisation chart. We have main focus to modify
the site analysis and come out the design concept of the pavilion. During the
crit session 2, all member are presently the SWOT and site analysis (Update),
precedent studies, the idea of conceptual design sketches for the pavilion,
bubbles diagram and site analysis. We get comment from all the studio master
Problem Arisen
We have problem about the lack of site analysis and the area for the
future development is not suitable because near to Y junction of the pathway. We
also problem by the lack of research about the precedent studies. The design of
pavilion do not have an overhang that can avoid the direct sunlight into the
structure and location of the pavilion is too near to the lake . We have lack
of communication and team work during the meeting.
Work Lies Ahead
Chairman
and construction management student are distribution the work for member. So,
the member can do their work during the mid-semester break. The design and
planning team need to modify the precedent studies, design of pavilion and site
planning. So, we only can proceed to Floor plan, Elevation, Horizontal and
Longitudinal section. For the non-design team, they need to study about
construction report, material selection, building services, elemental cost
analysis. They need to research information for own task and do a simple draft
for next meeting that will more fast for us to proceed it. For the construction
management student must complete and update the meeting during the holiday.
Progress Report Week 3
Meeting
During this week, we postpone our meeting. The chairman have
give thetask to all member. All the member were do their own task during the
holidays and we need to present it on Sunday (15/11/15).
Problem Arisen
Most
of the member going back to hometown so the member is hard to meet up to
discussion with more detail. This situation make us cannot procced to the
discussion of the problem.
Work Lies Ahead
In
the coming week, the schedule was planned the architecture students finalize
the external design with the elevations and perspective drawings. For the
Interior Design student must have the concept of the interior designs for the
pavilion. As we had finalized the design. , so we can proceed to the building
services part and the materials selection. Other than that ,construction
management student have to do the weekly progress report.
Progress Report (Week 4)
Meeting
There are one meeting were carried on in this week and
two crit session. During the meeting we have a crit session to all studio
masters. We had presented started by planning and site
analysis team for recap up the site analysis and landscape planning of the
site. After that, design team have introduce and explain the new proposed
design based on precedent studies with dome building (Rising Moon Pavilion and
Reichstag Dome). The team of material selection and building presented the
construction method and material for the Royal Pavilion. Lastly, presentation
about the project schedule by project management and scheduling team . After presentation by our group, we get comment and feedback from all
studio master .Studio Master comment that the
courtyard is not suitable in this design because the space of 1 m radius is not
enough and
Check the
method have been used for foundation..All the member are list down the problem of the task.
The next day ,chairman
have to make a meeting before the next crit session. In this meeting, the design team has some modification in terms of the drop off, entrance
and the space in the courtyard. They suggest the idea of ramps for use by
disabled persons to connecting from drop off to the pavilion. While the
solution of previous crit session about the courtyard in the middle of the
pavilion, we proposed a space for a small gallery in the middle of the
pavilion. According to the design of pavilion modified, the other team
takes initiative
for continuing their job scope. Material selection and building team make
discussion of the suitable type of roller shutter. The planning team has a take
note for the about the ramp for the dimension. While the design team decide to
make more precedent studies for the interior design.
In crit session 3, the group member are presentation
starts by introduce the new design with modification at the entrance of Royal
Pavilion. The ramp have added for connecting the pathway to the Royal
Pavilion. For the interior design, design team explain the idea of design for
the interior. Team of material selection and building also come out with
several change for material of the facade and the using of rain water
collecter and construction management student is give a presentation of the
project scheduling. After that, all studio master have give some comment and
advise for us.
Problem Arisen
The issue of our task
from the crit session is the structure of column is not suitable used for the dome because the
dome have a limited space and the position of rain water collection which above
the ground level is not convenient. For the presentation of interior
design must come with design concept and design team member must to improve the
drawing and coloring skills. In this week, the
progress of our group had delayed due to the changes on the designs. So, the
completion for building services and materials selection and elemental cost
analysis had delayed.
Work Lies Ahead
For the coming week the progress of building services, materials
selection and interior designs must be done and confirmed so that the quantity
surveyors and construction managers can proceed to the elemental costing
analysis and project scheduling respectively. Submission date is nearer to
us so all the member should be proceed
it to the A1 water colour paper and cartridge paper.
Progress Report (Week 5)
Meeting
The objective of this we is make
a preparation for the submission .Cost analysis team had prepared a elemental
cost analysis(ECA). Building survey and building technology focus to the green
building index report and material selection respectively. During the crit
session, the design team has present the recap for present the recap for
precedent studies and 'Tengkokok" as a design concept for interior
concept. While the cost analysis team present about the ECA. We get comment
from studio master about the lack of ECA information.
Problem Arisen
We
had lack of information about the material and ECA for quantity survey. Some of group member have
misunderstanding to the design concept
and material selection for the royal
pavilion.
Work Lies Ahead
We
must focus to the submission of project5A and 5B. Each of the teams must
transfer all the data into A1 board as soon as possible. Before the deadline,
we have to design a logo as an identity of group 4B.
